Welcome to DonateToEarth.blogspot.com!
I have created this website not to beg for money but to tell people my story and hope someone will share anything they are able to donate towards my future store I want to open. I have been working since I got out of High School, got an office job and stayed there for almost four years. I was not going anywhere by working for someone else. I cannot imagine working in the office anymore and continue suffering from depression. I have never been depressed in my life even though I went through many horrible things in my life, including the war back in Bosnia and Herzegovina. My creativity always helped me going forward and thinking positive throughout my life. I am 23 years old and have attended college for less than a year. I had to stop my education (Web Design) because I wasn’t able to pay off my debts and loans.
From the day I was terminated from my office job, a great idea had popped up in my head. I want to open up a store that will show other people my talents and since we are going through the phase of Global Warming, I wanted to include a lot of helpful products which will help our Mother Earth. I am making beautiful soy candles which are not harming the air, using the sea shells from the ocean and make beautiful frames and many other different creations with the sea shells. Those are just few things that I am working on right now and there are so many other products I want to show in my store. My store will have a donation box as well for Global Warming and every month, the money that will be collected will be sent to Global Warming program charity.
This world has come to the point where we deal with smog, pollutions, dirty and toxic rivers. Do you ever ask yourselves how our household trash hurts the earth and the air? Don’t you wish you could go outside and walk thought a natural green grass and clean air? If we want to achieve that we have an option to go to places where cars don’t run and factories are nowhere in sight. This store of my dreams will be full of products which are going to help us and the earth. Hopefully one day we will experience a better smelling air and walk through the beautiful garden which will never see the pollution again. Any cent or a dollar you donate will be a great plus for you, the store, and of course our planet Earth.
Thank you very much for reading and donating! Pass this website to whoever you know is a person enough to care about our planet Earth!!!
Biofuels
A new study finds that it will take more than 75 years for the carbon emissions saved through the use of biofuels to compensate for the carbon lost when biofuel plantations are established on forestlands. If the original habitat was peatland, carbon balance would take more than 600 years.
The oil palm, increasingly used as a source for biofuel, has replaced soybean as the world’s most traded oilseed crop. Global production of palm oil has increased exponentially over the past 40 years. In 2006, 85 percent of the global palm-oil crop was produced in Indonesia and Malaysia, countries whose combined annual tropical forest loss is around 20,000 square kilometers.
Conversion of forest to oil palm also results in significant impoverishment of both plant and animal communities. Other tropical crops suitable for biofuel use, like soybean, sugar cane and jatropha, are all likely to have similar impacts on climate and biodiversity.
“Biofuels are a bad deal for forests, wildlife and the climate if they replace tropical rain forests,” says research scientist Finn Danielsen, lead author of the study. “In fact, they hasten climate change by removing one of the world’s most efficient carbon storage tools, intact tropical rain forests.”
As countries strive to meet obligations to reduce carbon emissions under one international agreement (Kyoto Protocol), they may not only fail to meet their obligations under another (Convention on Biological Diversity) but may actually hasten global climate change.
According to the study, reducing deforestation is likely to represent a more effective climate-change mitigation strategy than converting forest for biofuel production, and it may help nations meet their international commitments to reduce biodiversity loss.
Alternatively, planting biofuels on degraded grasslands instead of tropical rain forests would lead to a net removal of carbon from the atmosphere in 10 years. Any biofuel plantations in tropical forest regions should be considered only in former forest land which has already been severely degraded to support only grassy vegetation.
“The EU and the US should only import and subsidize bio-fuel from guaranteed sustainable productions and only from countries which can demonstrate that their forests are sustainably managed,” says Danielsen.
Tropical forests contain more than half of the Earth’s terrestrial species. They also store around 46 percent of the world’s living terrestrial carbon, and 25 percent of total net global carbon emissions may stem from deforestation. There is therefore an inherent contradiction in any strategy to clear tropical forest to grow crops for so-called carbon-neutral fuels.
There are signs that part of the oil-palm industry is trying to minimize the impact its plantations have on biodiversity, but there is currently little effort to mitigate potential climate impacts.

5 Tips to help the Global Warming
1. Triple Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Choose reusable products instead of disposables. Recycle newspapers, glass, and aluminum cans. If you have any clothes or useless things that you don’t need in the house, fill up the boxes and take it to your nearest thrift shop like GoodWill. By recycling half of your household waste, you can save about 2.500 lbs of carbon dioxide every year.
2. Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning
When you’re about to go to sleep turn down the heat, that’s why you have blankets and comforters, right? When you are leaving the house set your thermostat 2 degrees lower in the winter and higher in the summer. By doing this you can save about 2.000 lbs of carbon dioxide each year.
3. Change your Light Bulbs
Replace your regular light bulbs with a fluorescent light (CFL). Replacing just one 60 watt bulb with a CFL will save you $30 over the life if the bulb. And CFL bulbs last 10 times longer than a regular light bulb. Save on your electricity bill and help the earth at the same time!
4. Buy Energy-Efficient Products
Avoid products that are packaged in a molded plastic and other plastic that cannot be recycled. If you reduce your garbage by 10 percent you can save 1.200 lbs of carbon dioxide annually. When buying a car, choose a car that offers a good gas mileage.
5. Turn off the lights
When you leave your house, check that all of your lights are out. It’s also good to turn your faucets off if you are not using the water at that moment. You will reduce your bill and help to conserve a vital resource.
This is a very good cause and most of us will be happy to share in any which way each of us can.We love the earth and have to save it.
